This term Ladybarn School cricket season begin with a competition at Parrswood High School in what was a gorgeous sunny day, the perfect cricket playing conditions. The team was made up of a mix of very talented children ranging from year 2 to year 6. For the first game of the tournament the children played against Moor Allerton. Moor Allerton opened the batting, but right from the get go Ladybarn dictated the pace of the match with some excellent bowling which Moor Allerton soon overwhelmed taking 6 wickets in the 8 overs. After which Ladybarn had their turn to bat. Opening the batting was one of the schools talented Y2 children. Being bowled at by year 6 children didn't phase the young star, having found the boundary a number of times in their over. This set the pace for the rest of the batsmen with some excellent batting all around. Ladybarn cruised to a comfortable victory.
The second match of the tournament Ladybarn faced stiffer competition from Chapel Street Primary school. This time Ladybarn opened the batting and felt the force of the Chapel Street Primary experienced bowling line up. The team had a number of outs which left them a tall tally to chase when it came to their to turn bowling. It proved to big too big a margin to make up for the team but they gave it their best effort.
For the last game of the comp the children played against Acasias Primary School. The children got off to a great start making the boundary on multiple occasions in the first few overs, however in the final overs the team lost a number of wickets. This proved costly as when it came to Acacias Primary's turn to bowl they made and passed Ladybarn's total in the final over.
The team have shown great potential for the up and coming season.
