National School Sports Week

Next week Ladybarn will be celebrating National School Sport Week and we will be taking part in a range of different activities to help promote sport, encourage healthy lifestyles and get children moving as much as possible.

Road to Rio!

This year the Olympics will take place in Rio, Brazil. To help get the children thinking about the Olympics as well as encouraging them to take part in as much physical activity as possible, we will be taking part in the Road to Rio challenge. The challenge encourages children to virtually travel the distance to Rio by logging physical activity.

Sport taster sessions!

We want to encourage children to find a sport they love and so next week we will be putting on different taster sessions of different activities for children to try. On Tuesday morning EYFS will be doing a dance workshop. On Wednesday morning KS1 will have gymnastic sessions led by one of Beth Tweddle’s Olympic coaches. On Wednesday morning year 6 will take part in BMX taster sessions. One Monday and Wednesday afternoon year 5 will take part in squash sessions led by England squash. And, last but not least, year 3 and 4 will try their hand at baseball on Thursday!

Wake Up, Shake up!

Every morning from 8.40-8.50 we will have a special Wake Up, Shake up session taking place in the playground outside. Children and parents are invited to come along to follow a simple exercise routine which will energise us ready for the day!

Run a daily mile!

Every day children will have 10 minutes to try and run for a mile… or more! Each class has a 10 minute slot to see how many times they can run around the playground. Can the children get better as the week goes on?

Sports Day

Sports Day will be on Friday and you are invited to come along to watch your child compete. This will take place on the field.

KS2- 9.15am- 10.45am

KS1- 10.45am- 12.00pm

EYFS- 2.00pm- 3.00pm

Forget driving, get moving!

We would like to encourage children to be active on the way to school too, so instead of driving, why not walk or cycle next week?

Sports Update

Last week Y5/6 completed their cricket season with a convincing win over Saint Cath's. We now await to see if we have made the league final.

Y5/6 boys and girls competed in the Citywide handball competition last week. They played exceptionally well just missed out making the finals having lost there only game in extra time, finishing overall 4th.
