Below are some photos of the reception tennis coaching session we had last week with the Northern Tennis club. The children loved taking part in the session which helped them to develop basic movements and hand-eye coordination. They were able to play the games and practise their skills again this week in the FS playground.

At Ladybarn every lunchtime this week the girls' football team, along with our sports coaches, are helping to get more and more girls involved in playing football. They are doing skills practise and playing games. Have we got any future Lionesses at Ladybarn?!?

On Monday 10 children from reception were invited to attend the Move festival at old Trafford. All reception children had taken part in multi skills training during the spring term and had lots of fun playing different games to improve their skills.

Sports week at Ladybarn was a great success! The children were challenged to complete 5 hours of physical activity over the week. They had a special booklet to record how much activity they had done. To help them, there were different opportunities, such as a Wake up, Shake up every morning, challenges at playtime and lunchtime (such as score a penalty past Mr Caldwell!) and even physical activity during normal lesson time!

The years 5 and 6 played in the Manchester City Football Club Competition which was held at the all new Etihad Campus. It included all the best teams from across Manchester. Ladybarn were put into a very strong group and showed moments of brilliant football that caught the eyes and applause of spectators. Unfortunately the children didn't make it out the group phase of the competition but they played hard and had an amazing time playing football in the state or art facilities.

Years 5 and 6 also participated in the Manchester Citywide Basketball competition. The team qualified out of their group but were knocked out in the quarter finals in a tight fought game.

Year 4 and 5 children took part in the Citywide Swimming Gala at the Wythenshawe Forum swimming centre. They narrowly missed out on getting a medal but had a fun day trying.
