Trust football competition winners!

Yesterday the Boys Y5/Y6 team took part in the annual Trust football competition. Last year the team lost out to Green End Primary on penalties in the final. This year Ladybarn took on the defending champions Green End in the opening game. From start to finish Ladybarn controlled the game with standout performances by Addison and Jason. The game ended 5-1 to Ladybarn.

The second game Ladybarn played Cringle Brook primary. Ladybarn didn’t let their momentum slip with further fine performances from all the boys. The game ended with Ladybarn winning 8-0 and being crowned this years Trust Football competition champions - well done boys!

Boys football

Yesterday Ladybarn Y5/6 boys kicked off their season against Green End primary. The boys played spectacular football, controlling the game end to end. With an early first half goal Ladybarn never looked back. They sealed the deal with a fantastic second half goal. The game ended 2-0. Well done boys!

Cross Country

On September 11th the Y5/6 children took part in the South of Manchester cross country competition. This was the first the group of children attending had been to a cross country event.  The track which the children were to run was further than any running event the children had done before.  We set the goal that no matter where we finish in the race that we do our best and finish it.  The girl group was the first to run.  And we managed to have one girl finish in the top 30 out of 100. All the girls finished the race.  The boys did the same with one of the boys managing to finish in the top 40 of 100.  It was a great experience which they all enjoyed.  

Yesterday the children competed in the second round of the Manchester cross country competition.  The children all improve their performances from last week which was brilliant.  Unfortunately they just missed out on qualifying for finals but all the children had a fun day and set personal bests. 

Basketball Update

On 22nd January, Ladybarn Years 5/6 played in the regional basketball competition. It was the teams first experience at the competition. The team really tried hard, had a great attitude and gave it 100 percent. 

The first game the team lost to The Willows 2-1.In the second game the team fought back from being 2-0 down to come back and draw 2-2.

The 3rd game vs St Anthony’s was dominated by Ladybarn’s offence, with some awesome shots on the basket. The game was won 1 - 0 by Ladybarn. 

The 4th and final game vs St Elizabeth’s  was a close fought game with Ladybarn just losing out 2-1.

Parrswood Girls Football Competition

Monday saw the beginning of the Ladybarn year 5 and 6 city wide football competition. Ladybarn had a totally new team, with this being all of the players first experience of a football competition at this level. The girls played 3 games and despite loosing all three games the girls still gave it their all. Afterwards they all said how much they enjoyed it and they look forward to the next competition.

Cross Country Running

This week at Ladybarn saw the completion of phase one in the South Manchester cross country competition, held over two days. Day one of the competition Ladybarn boys did extremely well. All the boys finished in the top 40 out of 100 boys running. A special mention to Yunis and Rhys who finished 7th and 9th respectively. Day 2 of the competition saw the distance that the boys had to run increase. This proved more challenging to some of the boys, however, again both Rhys and Yunis made it finishing in the top 10. Rhys finishing 4th and Yunis 10th. All the children can be very proud of their efforts!
